Accomplishments

  • Create a viable and dynamic neighborhood entity, UVSA

  • Promote activating Street Smarts

  • 911 calling strategies: phone tree, log, gathering and giving

       descriptions (ex. shoes of assailant)

  • Increase lighting with Light Up Your Block Campaign

  • Trim low hanging tree branches

  • Connect with local businesses by telling them that you are from the community and concerned about safety.

  • Regular meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. 6:30 P.M. at the Fellowship Hall of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, 1121 N. Leavitt

  • Pass on information via email, Facebook, Leaflets, and word of mouth about OEMC, Smart 911, camera rebates, etc.

Medium-term goals:
  • Connect with neighborhood organizations: EVA, UVNA, Greater WestTown Community Page, Residents of Division From Ashland toWestern, 12th CPD District Council

  • Establish solid working relationships with CPD, 36th , and 1st Wards

  • Fixture at 12th and 14th CPS District CAPS Meetings, attend and report

  • Establish media and community presence

  • Forge connections with the business community

  • Network with 1st and 36th Wards

  • Address deleterious to community business plans of Lyon’s DenHookah Lounge and Whadda Jerk via legal channel, specificallyBusiness Affairs Consumer Protection (BACP)

  • Develop organizational protocol (from block captains, leafleting,board development, etc.

  • Independent camera and security plans

  • Extensive 10 month research on private security

Long-Term Goals:

  • Establish an initiative to address workings of government: StatesAttorney’s office about laws regarding the prosecution of crimes

  • Address root causes of crime via youth programs (arts andhumanities, sports, career clubs, mentorships, etc.

  • Create a communication chain between business owners on Division

  • Website
